Something for myself : Day 1-2-3

Every August I stop making jewelry for people all around the world and I start to make something for myself, for my home.

Last year I made a framework to hang representing the Doors of Durin , maybe I will post some photos if you’re interested in Lord of the Rings stuff🚪🦑

I have started to carve this framework this week, I don’t know yet the subject in the center so I started from the frame…maybe I will make something celtic … or a russian icon … or maybe another LOTR related stuff…or a Dragon Age concept art…mmm…too much ideas 😅

I worked few hours this week…it’s too hot here in Italy, plus I work in my garage, so…🔥☄🔥☄

But I managed to carve these beautiful cats during the early morning hours, I think they could be the right present for a cat lover🐈💚

What a busy week! I managed to finish this wonderful series of Celtic pendants … tired but happy😊👍

Work in progress: making random stuff

These days I’m doing several pieces to reinforce the offer in my shop: the Tolkien monogram , a Ganesha , the Ecate Labyrinth , a Kitty , a celtic knot with Triskell inside and Yggdrasil.

A Cat on the Moon🌜🐈

Today I have made a piece that will be present in the next issue of Woodcarving Illustrated , it has been a honor to write for this important magazine!

The piece is made in linden wood and it’s very lightweight.

After whittling the piece with a Mora knife, I have added some details using the chip carving technique…

…and then I colored it with a brown mordant and I used a pencil to highlight the carvings.

Medusa pendant🐍🐍🐍

Medusa is a figure from Greek mythology. Together with Steno and Euriale, she is one of the three Gorgons, daughters of the marine divinities Forco and Ceto. According to the myth the Gorgons had the power to petrify anyone who had met their gaze and, of the three, Medusa was the only one who was not immortal; in most versions it is beheaded by Perseus.

Medusa is the most famous of the three Gorgons, she is a powerful symbol, in fact Medusa means “guardian”.

I have made several types of Medusa pendant in these years of woodworking, today I present you the one I like most!

Made in linden wood, this Medusa has been hand carved using the chip carving and bas relief technique, and colored with green mordant.
